I love maternity photos! I am not big on showing my bared skinned belly off that’s just not me… but I still love getting photos done. So on the weekend we packed up and headed to Townsville to see our favourite photographers.
Charlie, Shania and myself managed to get some amazing flights so we flew in on Thursday and Tim drove in on Friday for the photos Saturday. We are not used to civilisation so there was plenty of shopping had by all…. and lots and lots of Boost Juice. My amazing friend lent us a car and car seat so we were not stuck spending money on taxis (she is the most amazing and giving person I know).
Our photographers are the beautiful Liam and Mandy Postle from Postle Photography. Liam and Mandy did the photos for our wedding as well as our maternity photos when I was pregnant with Charlie. I can not fault this team, they catch natural moments that you don’t think anyone sees. They only do minimal editing on photos so you really get to see the real you not a photo shopped version, which we love.
Liam was loving our well behaved, happy and overly excited Charlie and I think we ended up with more photos of him then anything else. We definitely are not complaining as he is the light of our lives. Charlie was obsessed with the camera and constantly getting a close up.
Liam and Mandy have just relocated to Millaa Millaa on the Atherton Tablelands after a long career in Townsville. So if you are looking for a wedding photographer, maternity shoot, family portraits (plus anything else in between) or a videographer in that area Liam and Mandy are the ones to call.
Where we stayed
This trip we could not get in to our usual spot so we stayed at the Vivo Holborn Central Apartments. So like I said we do not usually stay here and will not be staying here again. Yes the view was nice, the hot water was hot and the location suited us… that is where it stopped for me.
These apartments are not small human friendly, the doorhandles are very low, and everything was glass!!! The coffee table was glass, the TV cabinet was glass, the dining room table was glass, the balcony railing was glass. The rooms were dated and the mattress has not been replaced since the building was built (eww there were so many stains and no mattress protector). It may not be every apartment in the building, but ours was just could not cut the mustard!
The staff are lovely the building just needs a refresh.
I love flowers and usually I can not justify the price tag that goes with them so I avoid florists. Special occasions like this give me an excuse to splurge. We got my flower crown this time as well as the one for Charlie’s maternity photos from Malpara Florist and they are worth every penny!
The team are Malpara are super friendly and happy to help with anything you need, nothing is too much. I wish I got my wedding flowers through them. The are so creative and seem to know exactly what you need. The quality is top of the line. When ordering my flower crown all I said was that it was for a maternity shoot and to have pink in it… What I received was like they plucked it straight out of my thoughts. Perfection!
My dress came from Boohoo.. it was not a maternity outfit just a maxi dress which I love. I really loved the fit and it was so comfortable. It also helped that this dress was on sale (and still is!).
The Make up
Mandy at Postle Photography did my make up as well. I tell you this time is a one stop shop! Mandy did the make up for myself and my bridal party and Charlie’s maternity shoot as well. Her style is perfect for me: nothing over the top, nice and natural.
